A look into Persian traditional feast of grapes

Feast of grapes is one of the traditional rituals in the Iranian city of Urmia with a history that dates back as far as three thousand years.

This historic celebration occurs in Urmia during the grape harvest season towards the end of the summer. 

The beautiful feast of grapes and traditional ritual of Doushab Pazan (extracting grape juice) are two spiritual heritages in Urmia which are registered in the list of Iranian national heritage.

As a sign of gratitude to the Creator of the universe, a festival is usually held in late August or early September when the grapes ripe in full.  

Local wrestling and joyful Azarbaijani folk songs as well as a group folk dance (Yali) in a long line are performed during the grape festival as a sign of unity.

Selling grape products and derivatives such as juice, vinegar and raisins is another part of this beautiful ceremony.
